I understand, but who was he going to hand the ball to or throw towards? The running game can't hang on to the ball to save their life. None of them can, especially the guys Carr brought in that were "waiting."
Receivers? Matthews is their "go-to?"
Mallett would have beat Utah and Toledo. I get that. Does he beat Illinois or ND? I doubt it.
UM wasn't supposed to beat Wisconsin, nor were they supposed to lose to Toledo.
Question: Which is worse: Losing to App. St or Toledo? Because of the team they had last year, I still say losing to App St. is worse. However, losing to App. St. this year would not be nearly as bad for the program. Remember, App. St has all the good college football players that aren't smart enough to go to the D-1 powerhouses. But they're still dang good players.
Toledo...they just suck, but so does Michigan...right now. I'm not making excuses, but losing to a 1-4 MAC team looks ugly. However, Toledo is getting paid $400,000 to lose those 4 games against the "BCS" teams.
I still think Rich is the guy and he'll be right there in two years. I don't see him pulling a "Saban" over night.

Can you say "rock bottom?"
Thanks again, Lloyd, for leaving the team with nothing, even if you would have stayed on as coach.
But isn't firing Lloyd part of the reason that they have nothing? Wasn't Mallett waiting to be QB?
