Apparently, some college basketball coaches want to double the size of the NCAA tourney. Now, I've said that expanding the tourney was a bad idea already, so you can guess what I think about doubling it. Some of their reasoning:

1. There are lots of good teams that don't make it in the field.
2. The current size has been in place for a while now.
3. Postseason bids help coaches keep their jobs.

Wow, those are great arguments, aren't they? First, the time argument is silly. By that logic sometime in the future every team should get a chance to be in the field just because they exist. The other two come down to one thing: winning. You want to keep your job? Win the game. You want to be in the tournament? Win the game. Don't change the rules because it's too hard. Boo hoo.
