Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien

After watching Inception (two nights in a row) I had to post this:

Also, being a bit of a fan of film scores, I got a big "kick" out of this:

Dude, how ironic. We just rented it Saturday night (but didn't finish until Sunday night...when you have kids, you'll understand).

Great flick.

Hans Zimmer doesn't stink. Then again, not a shock C. Nolan sticks with what works.

I'm not sure I could have followed the film over two different nights, it took a lot of concentration seeing it all at once.

I wasn't a huge fan of Zimmer's score to Batman Begins at first, but by the time The Dark Knight came out the style had won me over. I think this soundtrack is better than either of those though, probably in that the music is so closely tied with how the film messes with your head.

Which reminds me, the last scene of the film? Brilliant.

The last scene? Are you referring to the Castle scene "where it all began" from the beginning of the movie?

Is it possible Leo's character implanted in Saito's mind the idea of getting him back to his children? Or am I looking a little too deep into that (as if the movie didn't get deep enough)?

My bad. You were referring to the top spinning at the end when the movie cuts to black.

So, was he dreaming (top still spinning), or was it reality (top starting to wobble)?

Also, check out "Shutter Island." Not too bad.

That's the one. I was leaning forward at the end of the movie in anticipation and actually said "Awesome." out loud when it went to black. I think that the ending was supposed to be the real world, but enough doubt had been sown right at the end that you're not completely sure. That kind of thing usually bugs me, but it worked so well in this case that I found it to be a major plus.

Just to add one more comment, listening to the score on YouTube I noticed that the music at the very end of the film when it cuts to the credits is the same as the music at the very beginning of the film before the the music really gets going.
