Carrier Games?

The News has an interesting profile of MSU AD Mark Hollis today. This part in particular caught my eye:

His latest idea: To honor the members of the armed forces with the Carrier Games, perhaps to be played Nov. 11, 2011, on the deck of the USS John F. Kennedy as it sits anchored in Jacksonville, Fla. One game would feature MSU and North Carolina (with Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan as honorary captains, respectively), the other Air Force against Navy.

That is the greatest idea for a basketball game ever. Make it so.

I could of swore MSU did that a few years ago. I guess I lose track of all the publicity stunts they've done:

1. Outdoor hockey games
2. BB at Ford Field
3. Beating the Harlem Globe Trotters
4. Game on a boat

Or, you could just play a BB game at the Final Four...or is that getting boring?

Not boring yet.

I'm sure some of this stuff comes off as little more than publicity stunts, but I love it. The Cold War was an awesome experience and beating the Globetrotters was a lot of fun too. If it gets the university out there, makes a little money, and is fun I'm all for it.

And I really want to see basketball on an aircraft carrier.
