"...want to loosen up my arm a little bit."

President Obama is planning on warming up before throwing out the first pitch at the All-Star Game tonight. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think ceremonial pitchers usually warm up. But I'm sure a guy who thinks as highly of himself as our president wouldn't want to one-hop a pitch into home plate, especially since George W. Bush was known to throw some pretty good strikes for a guy wearing a bullet-proof vest. If he does short it, I'm curious to see the media reaction, because you know throwing a strike will lead to days of reflection on how "cool" and "studly" our president is.

UPDATE: I'd make some comments about the actual pitch, but since Fox didn't even bother showing home plate it's kind of tough. Also, is there a game tonight? I was hoping to see at least one inning before I had to turn in, but at the rate they're going I'll be able to catch the third when I'm eating breakfast tomorrow morning.

UPDATE 2: Apparently the pitch made it to the plate, but it was short. In the game itself, Curtis Granderson hit a triple in the eighth that led to the AL winning the game 4-3.

UPDATE 3: Andy McCarthy has more at The Corner.

UPDATE 4: After watching the MLB in McCarthy's link, that pitch definitely wasn't going to make it past home plate. It would have been in the dirt if Pujols didn't lean forward and grab it.

"Albert, you have one job. DO NOT...let this ball touch dirt! Got it?!"

For our supposed "Ripped" and "in shape" President, this guy obviously played soccer. One hopped it? You kidding me? Better to throw smoke and make Albert jump after it, then to throw a lobber. Bader thought that pitch was slow. Would you not be pumped up and throwing with almost all the gas in the tank?
In the words (well almost) of Randy Johnson...."throw the ball puss."

On a side note, you have to respect the fact that he was rockin his team gear. He didnt go with some politically correct uniform. One could argue he took more of a stand in the all-star game than on several other issues.

I don't know what was worse, FOX's camera guy or the pitch. That had to have been set up. There's no way a camera guy is getting that opportunity to completely screw up that moment. The camera was bouncing all over the place. Then at the end, he completely misses the most important part...where did it go?!?! Thank goodness for the video link you posted from ESPN.

What if Obama would have thrown a strike and this camera clown biffs it? If this was a set up, were they assuming for the worst...that he'll bounce it in to Pujols? What was the plan? Position the camera for a great throw, however do not look through the camera, only look at Pujols's movement and if Pujols has to do any movement, quickly jar the camera? Because that's what it looked like. Like someone clearly wasn't looking through the lens.

In my opinon, it looked like Pujols's feet were straddling home plate. If that's the case, he clearly didn't get it there. Probably 2 feet short. It definately wasn't a strike. Low AND inside.

Tale of the Tape between Obama and Bush:

Velocity = advantage Bush
Location = advantage Bush (Bush always threw perfect strikes, especially the one in New York for the 2001 World Series and the whole 9/11 catastrope going on)
Mechanics = advantage Bush (Obama had terrible form)
