Not sure anyone can replace the Duke. Might be a fine movie, but I can't help but wonder why they choose to remake a very well known movie. Is there anything the can add that will improve it? Sure, the original girl was horribly obnoxious, but I'm not sure she can work otherwise. They going to remake "the Searchers" next? Maybe Rio Bravo?
Horribly obnoxious doesn't cut it, I was rooting for the bad guys to kill her the whole time.
If remaking famous Westerns is what it takes to get more Westerns made, I'm for it. It's supposed to be closer to the book, so there should be some minor differences. Obviously Cogburn is going to be heavily influenced by Wayne's version. I'm sure it will be darker.

I think there can be no better marriage of song and trailer than True Grit and "God's Gonna Cut You Down" by Johnny Cash. It's just perfect.
