The line from Bane sounds about right but I don't remember it specifically.
Topher Grace was Venom is Spider-Man 3. His origin was more or less comics accurate but Hardy's version looks much better. The story that went around was that Raimi wanted Sandman as the villain for that movie and Avi Arad, one of the producers, said it had to include Venom. Raimi didn't like Venom and, obviously, the movie ended up being quite a mess. It looks like they may have done an okay job here having Venom without Spider-Man but he'll look weird without a spider on his chest.

Didn't Bane also say the line "You should be extremely afraid" to Taggert in TDKR?
Also, in the Sam Rami trilogy, didn't they try Venom with Topher Grace? Hardy seems a little more scary.

Also, Netflix has an excellent Hans Zimmer "Live in Prague" concert. Worth checking out. Especially the final 60 minutes.
