?

How is there nearly a full week to play bowl games after the 1st and the title game is still being played on a Monday night? Not that I think the game is going to be worth watching, but who does that when you have a Friday night available? What a waste.

There are so many issues. In no particular order:

1. N. Illinois in a BCS game v Florida State?

2. Two years in a row a team that played in a conference title game was penalized in the bowl process for losing that title game (MSU in 2011 and now Georgia in 2012). Because Georgia lost, Florida now slides up the BCS rankings.

3. The Rose Bowl should be allowed to veto Wisconsin. There should be some type of clause that states if a conferences 5th place team qualifies that the Bowl committee can choose an at-large team.

4. Why doesn't the Big 12 have a conference title game?

5. Way too many bowls and season way too long. A 0.500 winning percentage should not cut it. However, I believe the championship game was after January 7 last year (Jan. 9), so that's an improvement.

6. I still don't like a team's record being such a big factor in rankings. An inferior team should not be penalized for losing to a superior team. Case in point, Georgia was penalized for losing to Alabama. Alabama was supposed to win, not Georgia, so why penalize them? They should have won anyway. It was a close game on a neutral field, Georgia should have stayed #3. But, now they have 2 losses and are out of the top 5 rankings.

1. I agree with you here, yet isn't this what so many writers were begging for? Now that they get it they complain.

2, 6. Blame the guys that vote. They obviously don't vote for who the think is the best team because of the "rules" or traditions or whatever.

3. I doubt you'd feel this way if it were a fifth-place Michigan team. That's the drawback of a championship game. Of course having two schools ineligible doesn't help. And at the rate things are going a veto would ensure the B1G never sees a major bowl game again.

4. The Big 12 doesn't have a title game because it currently doesn't have enough teams. It will have one again next year.

5. I don't have a problem with the number of bowls, but I agree that .500 teams, like MSU, shouldn't be bowling. And it's stupid to be playing on the Monday after New Year's Day.

3. You are probably right about Michigan. And, good point about the veto. With the B1G bowl resume of recent years...they'd be vetoed out of any bowl not named Motor City Bowl (is that what it's still called, don't think so).

4. Thanks for clearing that up. I really thought they had a Big 12 Title game, but forgot with the conference shakedown the reason might just be because there's not enough teams or an equal number in each division.

5. USC should decline their bowl.
