Well, looks like I'm done with the Lions.

While I'm certainly not in love with what happened at the draft. It's the draft. Nothing can be justified until a few years from now. Do I think they should have gotten some lineman, absolutely. However they allegedly got 3 top players at their positions. Stafford, the TE, and the S. Charles Rogers didnt turn out to be a bust until 3 years after. If they had drafted all lineman, yeah maybe we have a better feeling but that doesn't mean we will have a better draft in the long run. It's about evaluating talent. If these guys are great talent then what a draft. If they are Mike Williams or 500lb lineman from Wisc., typical Lions.

The problem with the best player available philosophy is that you're not putting together a fantasy team, you're trying to build a real football team that wins games. Stafford (who wasn't even the consensus best QB) can't hope to amount to anything better than Harrington, or maybe Charlie Batch, playing behind the O-line he's got now. And that's especially true if the opposing offenses can score at will. Plus they take a safety with those LBs available? If I hadn't been finished after the first pick, I would definitely have been gone after pick three.

So, any suggestions on who I should root for? Or, who do you want to NOT win the Super Bowl?

Problem is this.
From the first pick to the last nobody knows who is going to turn out. If the lions are smart they don't ruin him like they ruined Harrington and throw him out to the wolves. I understand the critisim and I agree with it. There defense was 32nd in the league and there offense was 30th. Splitting hairs over the biggest need aren't we? All I'm saying is let's wait and see and furthermore they didn't even have the worst draft day (See Raiders). I certainly didn't agree with a TE pick but maybe the kid can block. Judge the pathetic Lions as a whole, not just the draft.

Gee, I think I've heard that before. Typical Lions honk. What are you going to tell me next, "I think this is THE year?"

How many years do we have to "wait and see?" Why wait when I can drive to the Stoeckle farm and see the same pile of crap.

Agreed.

If your going to quit being a Lions fan. This draft is just the straw that broke the camels back. This, in an of itself is just one "pile" in the manure spreader.
