Mass Effect: The Movie?

According to Spinoff Online, the Mass Effect series of video games is being adapted into a feature film by Legendary Pictures. Since Mass Effect 2 is the best game I've ever played, I'm pretty excited. And worried. I don't think a video game has ever made the transition to successful film, and Mass Effect could be a real challenge to adapt. A thorough play-through takes around 50 hours, so there's potentially 100 hrs of story to be mined so far. However, while Mass Effect has more character development than most games, much of the plot going from point A to point B to find clues that propel you towards the final showdown. That's less interesting in a film than in a game. But if you can manage to adapt the story the studio would have a hit the size of Star Wars on its hands, and at least two sequels.

Please don't screw it up.

Mass Effect Swag

I'm not usually interested in video game related apparel. Sure, I have a Duck Hunt and a Mario Bros. t-shirt, but those are exceptions. However, I'm tempted to pick up this Mass Effect shirt. If you haven't played the game, you'll just have to trust me that this is pretty cool.

Once Again, Mass Effect

I finished my first playthrough of Mass Effect yesterday. I didn't play every single bit of the game, though I got most of it (according to the achievement), but it still took approximately 44 hours. Forty-four hours of awesomeness. Despite sky-high expectations the game managed to impress and has dethroned Knights of the Old Republic as my favorite game.

What I've Learned From Mass Effect: Part 1

There's no problem that can't be solved with a radioactive shotgun.

More Mass Effect (Yet Again)

There's new media available at the Mass Effect site, including a new video of a distress call. You can also check out the first chapter on the prequel novel, Mass Effect: Revelation. Cool stuff, but this game needs to get here right away. But, in the interest of not losing all my free time to a video game, I suppose I can wait.

Mass Effect Gameplay

Want to see more Mass Effect? Of course you do. Check out the new gameplay video here. It looks especially sweet in 720p, though lower resolutions are available. The highlights? Well, I don't know about you, but I really want to play with the shotgun that disintegrates your enemies. The All-Terrain Rover being dropped from your ship and making a rocket-assisted landing is pretty sweet too. Can't wait to play.

More Mass Effect (Again)

Once again, this game will make me buy a 360. (Hat tip: Joystiq)
